By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in the Orange Walk District are investigating a report of harm made by a woman who alleges she was assaulted by her former common-law partner on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
According to police, a 44-year-old woman of Orange Walk Town reported that around 10:30 a.m., she was in her kitchen with her son preparing food for sale when her ex-common-law partner, whom she separated from eight years ago but still resides in the same house, was in the yard drinking alcohol.
The complainant reported that an argument began after she asked him to wash dirty dishes he had used. Police say the man later entered the kitchen, shouted at her, and slapped her twice in the face. He allegedly then grabbed her by the throat and choked her, before slamming her head against a cement wall, causing her to feel pain.
The woman further reported that the man continued to insult and slap her before leaving the kitchen.
The complainant was issued medico-legal forms, and a doctor later certified her injuries as wounding. Statements were recorded from the complainant and a witness. Investigations are ongoing.
