The Quick Response Team carried out the search warrant at a residence on Progress Street between 2:40 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Officers introduced themselves to resident Ninfa Leda Reynoso before beginning the search.
During the bathroom search, officers discovered a small white buffy substance suspected to be crack cocaine inside a ceramic toilet bowl. The substance was recovered, shown to Reynoso, and she was informed of the offence. She was cautioned, told her constitutional rights, and taken to the Orange Walk Police Station.
At the station, Reynoso was issued her rights form, which she understood and signed. The suspected crack cocaine was weighed and recorded at 0.11 grams. Officers sealed the substance in a labeled white envelope in her presence, after which she signed the envelope and a witness officer also signed. The item was handed to the exhibit keeper in accordance with the chain of custody.
A formal information and complaint was later sworn, and Reynoso was charged with possession of controlled drugs. She was cautioned again and chose to remain silent.
