By Aaron Humes: 19-year-old Noe Batun of Guinea Grass, Orange Walk District has died after a shooting incident at a bar on Sunday night.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith, Department Staff Officer, explained what happened: “The investigation commenced on Sunday March 22 at approximately 11:47PM when investigators in that village were advised that an injured Batun was being ferried to the Northern Regional Hospital having been shot moments prior. What we have been able to gather so far is that Batun was involved in an altercation at a bar in that village and the male person who is the suspect in this incident was escorted from that property. It is reported and alleged that, that male person returned in the company of another and he is alleged to have fired a shot into the bar which resulted in the injury of Batun and his eventual demise.”
Police have detained one person and are seeking another.
