By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: A tragic motorcycle accident on Sunday night has claimed the life of Kristian Baeza,19 after a collision at the junction of the Phillip Goldson Highway and San Roman, Rio Hondo Road in the Orange Walk District.
Baeza was reportedly riding a motorcycle when it was struck from behind by a Ford Explorer driven by 53-year-old Gustavo Cardenas.
Police report indicate that the cycle and the Ford were travelling in the same direction when they crashed.
Baeza was transported for medical treatment but died shortly after.
Cardenas was asked to provide a blood sample but reportedly refused, and further procedures are underway.
Authorities noted that Cardenas had been involved in a separate traffic incident in 2003, where a collision with a van resulted in fatalities.
Investigations continue.
