By Aaron Humes: Edwardo Contreras, also known as Lalo, is currently in critical condition following a brutal attack that took place on the evening of September 28. Contreras, approximately 40 years old, was found with severe injuries, including a chop wound on his right and left arms, his right leg, and head trauma, alongside the amputation of his right little finger.
Eyewitnesses report that the incident occurred at the A&E store in the village. According to a witness, Contreras was approached by a man in a gray pickup truck. After a brief exchange, the situation escalated when the assailant allegedly assaulted Contreras, pushing him to the ground.
At that moment, an unidentified individual, described as Contreras’s stepfather and a Mexican national, exited the pickup truck wielding a machete. He proceeded to attack Contreras, leaving him severely injured on the ground. Bystanders at the scene were quick to call emergency services.
Contreras was swiftly transported to hospital, where medical staff confirmed that he had lost a significant amount of blood and was in critical condition. An investigation is underway to locate the stepfather, who is believed to be attempting to flee through Santa Cruz.
