Orange walk man detained for obstructing police during stop-and-search patrol

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in Orange Walk have detained a man for Obstructing a Police Officer following an incident that occurred on November 28, 2025, around 7:00 p.m., during anti-crime patrols in the Trial Farm and Progress Street area.

According to authorities, police were conducting mobile patrol duties when they observed three men standing on Progress Street. Officers exited the vehicle and requested a stop-and-search along with the individuals’ particulars. Two men complied; however, the third man allegedly began shouting obscenities and attempted to flee.

The suspect was captured shortly after and was informed of the offense committed. He was then escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station.

At the station, his identity was confirmed as 24-year-old Darnell Stephan Valentine of Trial Farm Village, Orange Walk District. Police say his constitutional rights were read to him, and he signed the required acknowledgment form. He remains detained pending charges.
