By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A burglary investigation is underway following a report made by a resident of San Felipe Village, Orange Walk District.
The 53-year-old saleswoman reported that she secured her bedroom before leaving home on the morning of February 11th, 2026. Upon returning on the evening of February 12th, she discovered that several personal items were missing from the locked room.
Among the items reported stolen were two brand-name colognes and a pack of plastic cups, with a combined value of $105.00. She later learned that a Hello Kitty brand cologne valued at $45.00 had also been taken, bringing the total loss to $150.00.
The woman confronted her 35-year-old son, who resides at the home but does not have access to her bedroom. She reported that he admitted the lock was easy to open and told her he would repay her for the missing items because he did not want to go to jail.
While travelling shortly after leaving home the following morning, she received information that her son had attempted to sell one of the missing colognes. She identified the item as her property.
The man was subsequently located, informed of the report, cautioned, and escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station, where his rights were read and acknowledged. The investigation into the burglary continues.
