By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Yo Creek United FC clinched their third consecutive Orange Walk Football Association (OWFA) 1st Division title, winning the Opening Season 2025–26 Championship after a tense, hard‑fought final that went all the way to penalty shootouts on Sunday.
San Jose Pumas struck first when W Moses opened the scoring in the 62nd minute, giving the Pumas a well‑earned lead. But Yo Creek refused to surrender their crown. Armando Chirinos Jr. equalized in the 86th minute, forcing the match into a tense penalty‑kick shootout that ultimately decided the championship.
The victory sets Yo Creek United as the dominant force in Orange Walk football. Meanwhile, San Jose Pumas endured heartbreak once again, falling in their fourth straight final despite another courageous, warrior‑like performance.
The OWFA extended their congratulations to Yo Creek United for their consistency, discipline, and championship mentality, and expressed admiration for San Jose Pumas, who pushed the match to its dramatic conclusion.
