By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The war of words inside the UDP continues, but Opposition Leader Tracy Panton says she is staying focused on rebuilding the party rather than responding to critics.
Panton was asked directly about sharp public criticism coming from former UDP Leader Shyne Barrow and former deputy chairman Alberto August. In response, she said she would not be distracted by negativity and emphasized that she has only been in the leadership role for a few months.
According to Panton, the UDP she inherited was politically damaged, with broken structures and weakened public confidence. She argued that rebuilding the party will take time and effort from committed supporters.
Panton also hinted that some members may not support the direction she is taking but warned that those who choose not to “get on the ship” do so at their own risk.
The remarks add yet another chapter to the ongoing public infighting currently surrounding the opposition party.
