Posted: Saturday, September 20, 2025. 9:00 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Sharing Independence Day greetings on social media today, Saturday, Tracy Taegar Panton, the Leader of the Opposition, urged Belizeans to unite for a brighter future.

“Let us dare to dream of a Belize where Stronger Together means no one is left behind and Rising Forever is a promise we make to generations yet to come,” Panton stated, riffing off the theme of this year’s September Celebrations.

Taegar-Panton will be the first female Leader of the Opposition to address an Independence Day gathering, in her home constituency no less, opposite Prime Minister John Briceño.

The ceremonies begin at 10:30 Sunday morning, weather permitting.
