By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Athletes from across Belize are gathering at Corozal Community College in Corozal Town for two days of intense competition at the National Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA) Track & Field Nationals 2024-2025. The championship will bring together the best student-athletes from high schools across the country, representing the four competitive zones: North, Central, West, and South.
The event is set to begin Friday afternoon, May 2, with athletes competing in 800m races, shot put, high jump, javelin throws, and long-distance events. As the competition gets underway, athletes will aim to set records and claim victory in their respective disciplines.
Saturday, May 3, will see an early start as the competition continues and reaches its climax. The morning will bring high-energy sprints—100m, 200m, and 400m finals—alongside field events including discus, long jump, and triple jump. The championship will conclude with the relay races, in which teams will compete in the 4x100m and 4x400m.
With records expected to be broken and personal bests achieved, the NSSSA Track & Field Nationals continue to be a defining stage for young Belizean athletes
