By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The 2025–2026 National Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA) Football National Championship will be held Friday and Saturday, February 20–21, at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City, where the top boys’ and girls’ teams from across Belize will battle for the country’s most prestigious high‑school football crowns.
The tournament is hosted by Wesley College and will kick off on Friday at 1:00 pm. Action will continue on Saturday as of 8:00 am.
Eight regional champions — four boys’ teams and four girls’ teams — will compete in a two‑day knockout format featuring semifinals, consolation matches, and the national finals.
Friday: Four semifinals open the championship
Girls – Game 1 (2:00 pm)
Georgetown Technical High School (South) vs Mt. Carmel High School (West)
Boys – Game 2 (4:00 pm)
Julian Cho Technical High School (South) vs Sacred Heart College (West)
Girls – Game 3 (6:00 pm)
Belize High School of Agriculture (North) vs EP Yorke High School (Central)
Boys – Game 4 (8:00 pm)

Saturday morning: Consolation matches
Girls 3rd‑place match – Game 5 (8:00 am)

Saturday afternoon: National Championship Finals
Girls Final – Game 7 (12:00 pm)

The girls’ final could feature a showdown between the defending champions Georgetown Technical and the rising EP Yorke squad — but Mt. Carmel and BHSA both have the pedigree to disrupt that script.
Boys Final – Game 8 (2:00 pm)

Gwen Liz aim to defend their national title, but OWTHS, SHC, and JCTHS all arrive with strong regional campaigns behind them.
Awards Ceremony – 4:00 PM
The tournament concludes with the official awards ceremony, recognizing the national champions, runners‑up, and outstanding individual performers.
