Nohoch Che’en reopens at 9am with caution advised

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Good news for tour operators and visitors: the Nohoch Che’en Archaeological Reserve, home of Belize’s famous cave tubing experience, reopens this morning after being closed due to elevated water levels.

In a public notice issued at 5:35 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the Institute of Archaeology advised that activities at Nohoch Che’en Cave will open at 9:00 a.m. today.

The reopening comes with a firm word of caution. Tour operators and tour guides are strongly advised to remain highly vigilant and cautious of changing water conditions when conducting tours, sensible advice, with a tropical wave over the country expected to bring increasing showers through this morning.

The Institute also confirmed that all other archaeological reserves remain open for visitation, meaning the full slate of Belize’s heritage attractions is back in business following the weekend’s closures.

The Institute of Archaeology says it will continue to monitor conditions and issue further updates as necessary.

Visitors with cave tubing plans today should confirm timing with their tour operators, and operators should keep a close watch on the Institute’s advisories as the day’s weather develops.
