By Zoila Palma: The family of 48-year-old Melanie Moody, a resident of San Ignacio, is continuing their desperate search 9 months after she went missing.
According to relatives, Moody was last heard from on August 29, 2025, and has not been seen or contacted since.
Her sister told Breaking Belize News (BBN) that the pain of not knowing where their loved one is- is too unbearable.
“Every single day without her feels like a piece of us is missing. The pain of not knowing where she is or if she’s okay is something we carry every moment. She is deeply loved, and her absence has left a hurt that words can’t fully describe.
Watching my mom cry every day since she disappeared is heartbreaking. My dad has always been a strong man, but seeing him break down from the pain of losing his daughter is something no family should have to endure. Her daughters, Marcia Moody and Bre’ennah Jayne Moody, cry for their mother, and it is devastating not being able to tell them where she is. Her grandchildren are asking for her too. This pain runs deep through our entire family,” Melanie’s sister said.
The family is pleading to anyone who may have any information to report to the authorities.
The family says that those with any tips can even reach out anonymously.
“Just please tell us where she is. We will go for her. We just want closure. We just want peace of mind.
Please help us find her and bring some kind of peace to our family,” she said.
