Nichole McDonald brought back before court on reinstated cyberbullying charge against former ComPol; Chester Williams reportedly unhappy original charge was thrown out

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Thirty-eight-year-old Nichole Gilda McDonald is once again facing a cybercrime charge involving former Commissioner of Police Clyde Chester Williams, months after the matter was previously dismissed in court.

McDonald appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday morning, where she was read a single charge of using a computer system to disseminate a false statement.

The allegation is that on March 5, 2025, in Belize City, McDonald used a computer system to publish a statement against former ComPol Clyde Chester Williams which read: “Clyde Williams you is apart of it, drug dealer,” with intent to harm his reputation.

The charge stems from a matter for which McDonald was originally arrested and arraigned on June 30, 2025. At that time, she had been granted bail of $1,000, which she met. However, in November 2025, the charge was dismissed in court.

McDonald, who appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate, pleaded not guilty and immediately questioned why she was being charged again for the same offense.

“I was here last year and that charge was dismissed,” McDonald told the court.

Earlier in the morning, while being escorted to court in handcuffs and shackles, McDonald was visibly upset and lashed out over the reinstated charge.

“How I wah get charge two times feh something I done get charge feh cyberbullying Chester already? I just get off ah dat charge deh. How I wah get charge two times? Come on uno deh violate my constitutional rights. What I do?” she said.

Reliable sources told reporters that former ComPol Williams had reportedly been upset when he learned last year that the charge had been dismissed, claiming he was never summoned to attend court and wished to proceed with the matter.

During Wednesday’s hearing, the Senior Magistrate asked the prosecutor whether disclosure was ready to be provided to McDonald given the age of the matter. However, the prosecutor, a police sergeant, informed the court that additional time was needed to consult with the former prosecutor who previously had conduct of the case.

The matter was adjourned until July 3, 2026, for an update.

McDonald was granted bail in the sum of $4,000 plus one surety of the same amount or two sureties of $2,000 each, which she was able to meet.

Following the hearing, McDonald told reporters outside the courtroom that she has already sought legal advice from an attorney regarding the matter.
