By Aaron Humes: 37-year-old Raul Sergio Flores Iden, a Nicaraguan national, has been formally charged with the murder of Belizean Elias Adelmo Bejerano. The incident took place on Sunday, March 1, in Cowpen Village, Stann Creek District.
According to police reports, the altercation that led to Bejerano’s death has yet to be fully clarified, but evidence gathered at the scene has led to Flores Iden’s arrest. Bejerano was walking home from a nearby bar when he met his death.
Police believe the killer had previously tried to rob a woman in the village, and had only just moved there.
