By Zoila Palma: Andre Bauer has officially been sworn in as the new United States Ambassador to Belize, marking the beginning of his diplomatic assignment representing the United States in Belize.
“Today, I had the tremendous honor of being sworn in as the United States Ambassador to Belize,” Bauer said on Facebook.
The oath was administered by South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, a fellow South Carolinian and friend, with Bauer’s wife by his side for the occasion.
Bauer said he was grateful for the confidence placed in him by U.S. President Donald Trump and for the opportunity to serve his country in Belize. “I am deeply grateful for President Trump’s confidence in me and for the opportunity to represent our great country,” he stated.
Looking ahead to his new assignment, Bauer said he intends to focus on strengthening relations between the two countries. “I look forward to strengthening the important friendship between the United States and Belize and serving the American people with humility, dedication, and purpose,” he wrote.
The U.S. Embassy in Belize described Bauer as a former South Carolina legislator and two-term lieutenant governor, highlighting his background in public service, entrepreneurship and American values.
