The announcement was made by the Board and Management of KHMH, who expressed enthusiasm about the benefits this new plan will bring to their workforce.
Chief Executive Officer of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority (KHMHA) Chandra Nisbet Cansino said, “Approximately 700 staff will now have access to health insurance. It was worth fighting for.”
As the national referral center for Belize, KHMH plays a crucial role in the country’s healthcare landscape, serving as a specialized medical facility that coordinates the care of patients with complex or rare medical conditions.
The hospital boasts advanced resources, specialized expertise, and a network of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing comprehensive tertiary care.
Additionally, KHMH serves as the regional hospital for the Belize District, catering to a wide spectrum of healthcare needs.
Established in September 1995 and managed by an Authority, KHMH has grown to become a cornerstone of healthcare provision in Belize, employing a workforce of 700 individuals committed to delivering round-the-clock tertiary healthcare services.
