Sporting saloon gets a mid-life facelift
Ten years since its launch the Panamera has been given a fresh look for 2020 by Porsche.
Starting at £69,860, the new Porsche Panamera “redefines the sporting saloon”, says the German sports car manufacturer and the first models to be launched will be the 4, the 4S E-Hybrid, the GTS and the Turbo S.
Top Gear says the “most interesting of the bunch” is the newly named Turbo S, which is an even quicker version of the previous Turbo. It goes from 0-62 in just 3.1 seconds and has a top speed of 196mph.
Earlier this month the new Panamera Turbo S already proved its performance capability on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany.
Test driver Lars Kern completed the 20.832km-long lap of the most demanding race track in the world in exactly 7:29.81 minutes – the new official record in the “executive cars” class.
Sharper design
In addition to the sports saloon body style, the new Panamera models can also be ordered as Sport Turismo. The previously optional Sport Design nose styling – characterised by its distinctive air intake grilles, large side cooling openings and a single-bar front light module – is now standard on all models.
In the case of the Panamera Turbo S, this model gains a completely new nose that is differentiated by the larger side air intakes and newly-designed elements in body colour, which are connected horizontally to further emphasise the car’s potent stance. The light modules of the dual Turbo front lights are now also set much further apart.
Goodwood.com says of the facelift: “The Panamera has been given a mid-life refresh, and we’re glad to report that in the looks department it’s just as handsome as before, with the added bonus of more tech and better engines underneath.”
How much will the Panamera cost?
The new Panamera is available to order from Porsche centres in the UK and Ireland. The model range starts at £69,860 for the rear-wheel-drive Panamera and the other models feature all-wheel drive:
