Posted: Tuesday, July 8, 2025. 4:03 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma:  Residents of Kontiki and nearby communities in San Ignacio Town now have improved access to law enforcement with the opening of a new police substation.

The facility, staffed by 20 officers and supported by the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), will serve communities including Maya Vista, Boiton Area, Trench Town, Mosquitoville, and Shawville.

Officials say the substation will boost police presence and improve response times in the area.

The project is part of the Government’s broader effort to enhance citizen security and build stronger community-police relationships across the country.
