New police precinct coming to Santa Elena Town

Posted: Wednesday, July 31, 2024. 1:30 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Santa Elena Town, long advocating for a dedicated police station due to its significant growth, is set to see its wish fulfilled.

Amid a recent surge in crime, local residents renewed their calls for increased police presence, citing the need for a police station separate from the San Ignacio Police Station, which covers both towns and surrounding communities.

In response to these concerns, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams confirmed that a new police precinct will be temporarily established in Santa Elena and that the location for a permanent police station has been identified.

The precinct will be located on Carillo Puerto Avenue and is slated to officially open on Monday, August 5, 2024.

The police precinct aims to bolster local safety with additional police officers assigned to patrol the area.

The public is invited to attend the grand opening ceremony of Santa Elena Town’s first-ever police precinct.
