By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The National Primary Schools Volleyball Championship got off to a start Friday morning at the Toledo Sports Auditorium and Toledo Community College in Punta Gorda, Toledo. With last year’s champions, the Holy Redeemer girls and the Cayo San Marcos’ boys, not qualifying for the national tournament this year, the path is clear for new champions to emerge.
Organized by the Belize National Sports Council, the national championship features the top volleyball talent from 12 primary schools across the country. These young athletes, representing their respective districts, are expected to display exceptional skill and determination as they compete for the national crown.
Here are the teams that will compete for the national volleyball championship:
- Cayo District: Belize Christian Academy (boys) and Santa Elena Primary (girls)
- Corozal District: Corozal Methodist School (boys) and Paraiso Government School (girls)
- Orange Walk District: Chan Pine Ridge Government School (boys) and Carmelita Government School (girls)
- Belize District: Holy Redeemer RC (boys) and Belize Elementary School (girls)
- Toledo District: Toledo Christian Academy (boys and girls)
- Stann Creek District: Independence RC (boys) and Holy Angels RC (girls)
The event promises high levels of excitement and competition, with the home district’s representative, Toledo Christian Academy, fielding both boys’ and girls’ teams. The absence of last year’s champions opens up the competition, making the battle for the championship even more intense.
Punta Gorda is buzzing with activity as students, parents, and volleyball enthusiasts gather to witness the crowning of new volleyball champions and celebrate the next generation of Belizean volleyball stars.

- Division A: Stann Creek, Cayo, Corozal
- Division B: Toledo, Belize, Orange Walk – Carmelita Gov’t School

- Note: The championship match for both competitions will be played at the PG Sports Auditorium.
