sx salon: a small axe literary platform, Issue #50, is now live. Editor Rachel L. Mordecai describes this milestone edition:
sx salon dedicates the Poetry & Prose section of this milestone 50th issue to the work and memory of Danielle Legros Georges, our former creative editor. The section features nine pieces from writers whose work Danielle placed in sx salon during her tenure: amílcar peter sanatan, Keisha-Gaye Anderson, Morgan Christie, John Robert Lee, Omega Francis, Letitia Pratt, Malica S. Willie, Conor Bracken, and Keith Jones.
To celebrate our tradition of fostering vibrant intellectual and creative exchange, the discussion section is structured around a series of dialogues, beginning with my conversation with sx salon’s founding editor Kelly Baker Josephs about the platform’s history and future. Conversations between amílcar peter sanatan and Marsha Massiah, Shrinagar Francis and Fawzia Muradali Kane, and Websder Corneille and Evan Auguste round out the section.
Finally, as we reflect on the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, sx salon invites submissions pertaining to climate crisis and Caribbean ways of survivance in the face of existential threat, to be published in the coming year.
We hope you’ll check the issue out. [. . .]
