Carnegie’s contributions to the field of Caribbean Studies. Guest edited by Matthew Chin, Ronald Cummings, and Njelle Hamilton, this special section includes contributions by Timothy S. Chin, Rachel Goffe, Deborah A. Thomas, and an interview with Charles V. Carnegie by David Scott. The section closes with some reflections by Charles V. Carnegie. Versia Harris’ work, Out of Darkness, appears on the cover and in the visualities essay. Lewis R. Gordon’s book, Fear of Black Consciousness, is the focus of the book discussion with essays by Nathalie Etoke, Terrence L. Johnson, and André Brock.
We invite you to read an interview with artist Dhara Rivera by Charlotte Rogers titled, “EL OCIO DESMEDIDO: Excessive Leisure and Ecological Destruction on Puerto Rico’s Coasts,” published in sx blog. This reading includes color images by the artist, as well as the interview, and enhances the essay published in this issue.
