By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The semifinals of the New Horizon Sporting Club’s Kevin Bernard Mundialito have been scheduled for Sunday, August 25, at the Louisiana Football Field in Orange Walk.
Trinidad’s United States, San Estevan’s Italy, Yo Creek’s Argentina, and Palmar’s Portugal qualified for the semifinals on Sunday, August 11.
Fans were expecting the semifinals to kick off on Sunday, August 18, but organizer Wilson ‘Chato’ Perez said that the semis will have to wait a week.
The semifinals will feature the top-seeded United States against fourth-place Portugal and second-seeded Italy against third-place Argentina. Perez said the entrance fee for the semifinals will be $7.00.
The United States emerged as the top team with 24 points. Italy followed with 20, while Argentina and Portugal tied with 16 each. Argentina took third place with a better goal difference (+5 to +3).
