New Horizon Sporting Club kicks off Mundialito in Orange Walk on Saturday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The New Horizon Sporting Club, led by Wilson ‘Chato’ Perez, kicks off the 2024 Kevin Bernard Mundialito this weekend in Orange Walk Town at the Louisiana Football Field.

The first set of five games is scheduled for Sunday but before that, as tradition dictates, the teams’ parade is to be held in Orange Walk Town on Saturday afternoon.

“All teams are asked to gather at the OW Central park as of 3pm,” the New Horizon Sporting Club said on social media.

“All teams and all players MUST partake with their uniforms and team flags. Anyone willing to join is welcome.”

The ten teams participating in the competition are USA from Trinidad, Argentina (Yo Creek),  France (August Pine Ridge), Germany (Orange Walk Central), Italy (San Estevan), Croatia (San Jose), Brazil (Sandy Field), Portugal (Palmar), Netherlands (Louisiana Area), and Mexico (Black Water.

Nigeria, who won the competition last year, is not taking part this time around.

The parade starts at 3:30 pm at the Louisiana Football Field, on Bakers Street, Main Street, and on to Queen Victoria Avenue, returning to the Louisiana Football Field.

The competition proper kicks off on Sunday starting 12:00 pm.
