By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As the Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) continue their training camp in Belmopan ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifiers against Montserrat and Panama, several new players have finally joined the squad this week after being previously called up but having been unable to report due to commitments with their clubs.

Fresh additions to the squad
Among the latest arrivals are Warren Moss, Horace Avila, Moises Hernandez, Jaylen Lennan, and Desmond Wade, who have now integrated into the team’s preparations. Additionally, Eugene ‘Pelé’ Martinez is expected to arrive on Thursday, while Carlos Bernardez, traveling from Honduras, should be in camp by Friday.

Training camp progress
The BMNT officially began training on May 12 at the FFB Stadium, but the official squad list remains unreleased. Despite this, images from the training sessions have provided insight into returning players, including midfielders Jordy Polanco and Nahjib Guerra, goalkeepers Charles Tillett and Woodrow West, and forwards Andir Chi and Krisean Lopez.

This is the list of players who were present from last week:

  • Goalkeepers: Charles Tillett, Woodrow West
  • Defenders: Norman Anderson, Naim Wilson, Deshawon Nembhard, Alence Ayala, Everal Trapp, Harlan Cassanova, Izon Gill, Jonard Castillo,
  • Midfielders: Jordy Polanco, Nahjib Guerra, Owen Sosa
  • Forwards: Andir Chi, Krisean Lopez, Eldon Reneau, Jaheim Mena, Keydenshaay Bowen,
  • Young Talent: Marlon Meza Jr (midfielder)
  • Additional Players: Freybin Pagoada, Kennard Bood

Coaching and tactical adjustments
The training camp is being overseen by Uruguayan coach Daniel Bartolotta, who leads a team of Mexican coaching advisors as part of the Mexico-Belize Project. Belizean coach Charlie Slusher is working closely with the staff to refine the team’s tactical approach.

Upcoming matches
Belize will face Montserrat on June 4 in Trinidad and Tobago, followed by a home match against Panama on June 7 at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan. With the squad taking shape, the BMNT aim to put up a strong fight in their remaining qualifiers.
