New Book: ¿Quién mató a Elena Ruz?

¿Quién mató a Elena Ruz? (Ediciones Callejón 2023) completes the latest trilogy by Edgardo Rodríguez Juliá, along with the novels Sol de medianoche [Midnight Sun (Mondadori 1999, Ediciones Callejón 2014)] and Mujer con sombrero Panamá [Woman with Panama Hat (Mondadori 2005)].

Edgardo Rodríguez Juliá (excerpts from The Puerto Rican Academy of the Spanish Language): Elected in 1997 as a full academician of the Puerto Rican Academy of the Spanish Language, where he occupies chair E. He took office on August 24, 1999, with the speech titled “Historia y biografía de una idea que enloqueció de amor.” José Luis Vega responded on behalf of the corporation.

Edgardo Rodríguez Juliá is a retired professor at the University of Puerto Rico, an institution from which he also holds an honorary doctorate and Distinguished Professor at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music.

He has published seventeen books of chronicles and essays, nine novels, and two short story collections. His work shows an extraordinary thematic coherence marked by stylistic diversity and experimentalism. He has been considered one of the most outstanding Puerto Rican writers of the so-called “Generation of the Seventies” in Puerto Rico.

Among his publications are the novels La renuncia del héroe Baltasar, which has been translated into English, and La noche oscura del Niño Avilés (1984), translated into French with the title Chronique de la Nouvelle Venise (1991). He is the author of books of short stories and essays: Las tribulaciones de Jonás (1981); El entierro de Cortijo (1983), translated into English and French; Una noche con Iris Chacón (1986); El cruce de la Bahía de Guánica (1989); Peloteros (1997); Caribeños (2002); Musarañas de domingo (2004); San Juan, ciudad soñada (2005). With Beatriz Viterbo, from Argentina, he published his personal anthology titled La nave del olvido (2009). His most recent books are La piscina (2012), [. . .] Las brujas (2014), [. . .] Breve historia de mi tiempo urbano (2015), [. . .] Tres vidas ejemplares del Santurce antiguo (2018) and [. . .] El béisbol romántico (2019).
