Description (by Miguel Ángel Hernández Pastor): This is a book of all flavors. It evokes the color mamey [mamey— called mamey sapote, marmalade fruit or marmalade plum in English-speaking islands— is between an orange and salmon-pink in hue] and the fruit of the same name. However, this excellent selection of stories by author Kianny N. Antigua encompasses the entire color palette, achieving beautiful and simultaneously combative polychromies through which freedom is invoked.
These stories share a common, feminine flavor found throughout, but also offer a whole universe of other flavors, ranging from the bitterness of expulsion from paradise to a complex play of shadows, including the story of someone who refuses to eat onions. In every case, the book presents the perspective of an empowered, warrior woman, as the title itself suggests.
Without a doubt, it is a great pleasure to immerse oneself in the rhythm of these powerful stories, which possess the force of a hurricane and while delighting the reader thanks to Kianny’s unique approach.
However, don’t be misled, because it’s not a book aimed only at women, no, and the author reveals this in her dedication: “For all (and yes, I include everyone)” [Para todas (y sí, los incluyo a todos)].
