El archivo del Este: Desplazamientos en los imaginarios de la literatura cubana contemporánea (Almenara 2025), by Irina Garbatzky, explores the symbolic displacements and implications of Cuban literature that referenced landscapes and tropes from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

Description (Almenara): El archivo del Este [The Archive of the East] addresses a special type of discursiveness operating in Cuban literature between the centuries and the symbolic displacements it entailed. The recourse to topics, landscapes, and references to Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union articulated a space of escape and proliferation close to those modulations of the Latin American archive that, marked by a constitutive heterogeneity, explore the limits of the self in the connection with other worlds. This discursive constellation has allowed us to rethink, through writing, not only the margins of the nation and the canon, but also the place of the human and the relationship of writers to power.

Irina Garbatzky is a professor of Latin American literature at the National University of Rosario and an independent researcher for the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research of Argentina. She is the author of Los ochenta recienvivos. Poesía y performance en el Río de la Plata (2013) and has co-edited Mínimo teatral (with María Fernanda Pinta, 2021), Nuestros años ochenta (with Javier Gasparri, 2021), El prisma de Elba Bairon. Dibujos para Emeterio Cerro (with Francisco Lemus, 2022) and Puntuaciones sensibles. Figuras de la poesía latinoamericana (with Ana Porrúa, Ignacio Iriarte and Matías Moscardi, 2022).
