By Zoila Palma: Residents of the Waterhole area in San Jose Succotz joined police officers last night to launch a new Neighborhood Watch Group aimed at enhancing safety and fostering community unity.
The initiative, led by Commander of Community Policing Howell Gillett and Officer Commanding Benque Viejo Police, Jesus Palma, reflects the ongoing collaboration between law enforcement and residents to create safer neighborhoods.
Commander Gillett emphasized that the program embodies the core principles of community policing, echoing the words of Sir Robert Peel: “The police are the public, and the public are the police.”
“Together, we reaffirm that safety is a shared responsibility, and lasting change begins when communities and the police work side by side,” Gillett explained.
