By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) will open its 2026 season on Friday, February 21, with a double‑header at the Belize City Civic Center, marking the league’s first full campaign under its restored branding since the pandemic‑interrupted 2020 season.
The night begins with the San Pedro Tiger Sharks facing the Cayo Western Ballaz at 7:30 pm, followed by the Belize City Defenders taking on the Orange Walk Running Rebels at 9:30 pm. Both games are expected to draw strong support as teams return to regular‑season action.

Week 1 continues on Saturday, February 22, when the Belmopan Trojans host the Corozal Spartans at 8:00 pm at the UB Gymnasium in Belmopan.
The 2026 season features seven teams competing across the country, with additional fixtures scheduled for the following weekend in Belmopan, San Ignacio, and Orange Walk.
With six teams in action, the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers are the only team inactive on opening weekend. They make their season debut the following week.
Week 2 fixtures are scheduled for February 27–28 in Belmopan, San Ignacio, and Orange Walk.
