NEBL: San Pedro Tiger Sharks surge past Trojans 106–85 in Belmopan

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The San Pedro Tiger Sharks remained unbeaten after overpowering the Belmopan Trojans 106–85 on Friday night at the UB Gym in Belmopan in Week 2 of the NEBL season. San Pedro improved to 2–0, while Belmopan dropped to 1–1.

The teams were tied 29–29 after the first quarter, but San Pedro edged ahead 57–49 at halftime and held a narrow 76–69 lead entering the fourth. The Tiger Sharks then exploded for 30 points in the final period while holding Belmopan to 16, sealing a convincing road victory.

Tiger Sharks: balanced scoring and relentless pressure

San Pedro’s offense fired on all cylinders, led by Edward Hampton, who finished with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks, while going 11–16 from the free‑throw line.

Eyan Rene added 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists, delivering one of the most complete performances of the night.

Forward Tyrell Griffith contributed 14 points and 7 rebounds, and captain Brian White posted 14 points and 12 rebounds for a double‑double.

Off the bench, Devin Moody scored 8 points, and Ashton Edwards added 7 points on efficient shooting.

San Pedro dominated the paint with 60 points, forced 28 turnovers, and scored 33 points off those turnovers, while also producing 31 fast‑break points.

Trojans stay close early but fade late

Belmopan were led by Jarrel Velasquez, who scored 21 points on 8–16 shooting, including five three‑pointers.

Bryan Hudson added 16 points and 7 rebounds, while captain Lisanie Lambey contributed 10 points and 4 assists.

Center Kingsley Nwagboso posted 10 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals, but also committed 11 turnovers under San Pedro’s pressure.

Off the bench, Corey Nickerson scored 9 points, and Raheem Thurton added 6 points and 5 steals.

Belmopan scored 48 points in the paint and got 35 points from the bench, but their 28 turnovers and defensive struggles in the fourth quarter proved costly.
