By Zoila Palma: Today, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise hosted its National Vegetable Stakeholders meeting at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Sustainable Development.
The meeting focused on the presentation of the 2025–2026 National Vegetable Planting and Harvesting Calendar, which outlines the official planting and harvesting periods for key priority vegetables, including potatoes, onions, carrots, lettuce, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, and sweet peppers.
The calendar supports national production planning and guides import regulation decisions.
Participants also reviewed the performance of the 2024–2025 crop season, discussing the challenges faced by producers and identifying opportunities to improve productivity and market access.
The session included the formal closure of the 2024–2025 crop season and the official declaration of the 2025–2026 crop season open.
The meeting also highlighted the seasonal weather outlook, helping to align planting schedules with expected climate conditions for the upcoming crop cycle.
Stakeholders from across the vegetable sector to promote data-driven planning, strengthen local production, reduce import dependency, and enhance national food security.
