By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On January 5, 2025, the National Student Union of Belize (NSUB) announced the election of its new Executive Council, who will lead the union for the 2025–2027 term.
“The election, held virtually on January 5, 2025, marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to empowering and representing Belizean students nationwide,” the union said.
The newly elected Executive Council members are:
President: Tomas Serrut
First Vice President: Darien Parham
Second Vice President: Yannika Dorado
General Secretary: Tristan Rodriguez
Director of Student Affairs: Andrea Neal
Director of Events: Jaleeza Roberts
Director of Finance (Treasurer): Cecilia Moreira
“These individuals bring a wealth of experience, dedication, and passion to their roles. Together, they will work to advance the mission of the NSUB, advocating for student rights, fostering educational excellence, and creating opportunities for Belizean students to thrive in an ever-changing world,” the union added.
Outgoing President Ashley Longford congratulated the new council, stating:
“This new team represents the strength, diversity, and determination of Belizean students. I am confident that under their leadership, the NSUB will continue to grow and champion the causes that matter most to our members.”
The NSUB says that it remains committed to serving as a unified voice for students across Belize, fostering collaboration, and driving positive change in the education sector and beyond.
