National Secondary Schools Sports Association’s ‘Football Nationals’ kick off Thursday in Dangriga

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The best high school teams from the four geographical areas (North, Central, West, and South) gather from Thursday to Saturday at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga for the National Secondary Schools Sports Association’s (NSSSA) Football Championship referred to as the ‘Football Nationals’.

The Southern Secondary Schools Sports Association (SSSSA) is the host of the double competition which includes the boys and girls tournaments.

The Girls National Championship comprises Belmopan Comprehensive School (BCS), Escuela Secundaria Técnica México (ESTM), Gwen Lizarraga High School (GLHS), and Independence High School (IHS).

The four teams in the Boys National Championship are Muffles College (MC), Belmopan Baptist High School (BBHS), Delille Academy (DA), and Gwen Lizarraga High School (GLHS).

Each team will play three matches in the single round robin format to determine the champions. Four games will be played per day (See schedule).

The opening ceremony will begin at 12:30 pm on Thursday, followed by the first match between Belmopan Comprehensive School and Escuela Secundaria Técnica México girls at 1:00 pm.
