By Zoila Palma: The National Meteorological Service of Belize (NMS), in collaboration with the World Food Programme, recently hosted a two-day Multi-Media Production Training for its staff.
Held on July 29–30 at the NMS Conference Room, the workshop brought together meteorologists, weather observers, and technicians to strengthen their skills in videography and multimedia communication for meteorological purposes.
Participants were trained in key areas such as real-time visualization, data presentation, public engagement, and videography techniques for weather forecasting and planning. Sessions covered all stages of media production—from pre-production planning and equipment setup to video editing using Adobe Premiere.
Staff received hands-on training with professional-grade equipment sponsored by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), including lighting kits, microphones, tripods, and advanced camera gear.
This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the NMS’s ability to communicate accurate weather and climate information to the public, while also countering misinformation.
