National Institute of Culture and History collaborate with Ministries of Culture and Environment in Peru for cultural exchange

By Zoila Palma:  The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH), through its Institute of Archaeology (IA), is collaborating with counterparts from the Ministries of Culture and Environment in Lima, Peru, as part of the second phase of their cultural exchange program.

This initiative aims to strengthen regional cooperation and promote sustainable practices in the management of archaeological sites.

A multidisciplinary team from the IA—comprising representatives from the Research, Conservation, Enforcement, and Park Management Units—will participate in a week-long training program.

The sessions will support the development of a comprehensive Master Plan for the management of the Caracol Archaeological Reserve in Belize.

This engagement represents a significant opportunity to foster regional partnerships, share best practices, and collectively advance the preservation and sustainable stewardship of our shared cultural heritage.

NICH thanks hosts in Peru for their warm hospitality and commitment to this meaningful dialogue.

The IA, NICH had the privilege of hosting our Peruvian colleagues in Belize in September 2024.
