By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) has activated its teams and deployed resources nationwide to assist those affected by recent adverse weather conditions.
NEMO noted that it continues to monitor daily weather forecasts and flood conditions in collaboration with the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services of Belize.
In addition, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) is conducting assessments of roads, bridges, and ferries nationwide.
The Belize Defence Force (BDF) and Belize Coast Guard (BCG) are also assisting residents of Flowers Bank and Rancho Dolores using Hino vehicles and flatbed vessels, respectively.
NEMO says that regional teams in Cayo and Belmopan are assessing flood-affected areas and distributing immediate humanitarian aid, supported by BDF soldiers and additional transportation resources.
Damage and Needs Assessment (DANA) teams are actively evaluating affected areas in the Cayo District.
NEMO said that efforts will continue until all affected communities have been reached.
