By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The stage is set for the decisive second leg of the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (NAIC) Finals, as San Pedro Terror Squad and EZ Griga Conquerors prepare to face off on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 7:30 pm at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro. With everything to play for, both teams will be giving their all to claim the championship title in what promises to be an exciting and intense final match.
The first leg, held at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga on Saturday, August 17, ended in a 0-0 stalemate, with neither team able to break the deadlock. This result gives the Terror Squad a slight advantage as they head into the rematch on their home turf.
EZ Griga Conquerors reached the finals after a hard-fought battle against Orange Walk’s Mi Gente, securing a 5-4 aggregate victory. They drew 2-2 in the first leg on Sunday, August 4, at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk, and clinched their spot in the finals with a 3-2 win in the second leg on Saturday, August 10, at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga.
San Pedro Terror Squad had a more straightforward path to the finals, defeating Toledo Legends FC with a commanding 4-1 aggregate score. They won both legs, 2-1 at home at Ambergris Stadium on Saturday, August 3, and 2-0 in the second leg on Saturday, August 10, at the Victor Sanchez Union Field in Punta Gorda.
