By Aaron Humes: Last week, the lifeless body of forty-seven-year-old Paul Serrano was discovered in the local cemetery in Unitedville, Cayo District, by a young boy on his way to a football game.
Police received a call on Wednesday, June 4, regarding the discovery of the body, which exhibited apparent gunshot wounds.
“The body was found in an advanced state of decomposition,” Staff Officer Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith stated at Monday’s press brief. “A relative has come forward to identify the victim; however, due to the condition of the body, we will be conducting DNA testing for a more definitive identification.”
The National Forensics and Science Laboratory is set to conduct a postmortem examination to provide further insights into the cause of death.
