By Aaron Humes: On Saturday, a family in Bella Vista, Toledo District was ambushed in their home, resulting in the death of a man and injuries to his partner. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero, the investigation reveals that a male person entered the house with a firearm and fired several shots, causing fatal injuries to the male victim, Virgen Ceron, and injuring his partner, Nickey Logan.
The couple had recently moved to the area and had been living there for less than a month. The investigation suggests per ACP Romero that the perpetrator had rivals with other persons in the village: “The information we gathered is that he had rivals with other persons in the village and that is what led to the shooting…I would need to check whether it’s drug related.”
ACP Romero added that Ceron is known to police from a previous drug-related encounter.
Logan, the mother, showed bravery by protecting her child during the shooting, sustaining several gunshot injuries. Fortunately, the child was not harmed. Logan’s condition is currently stable.
The police are seeking one person from Bella Vista in connection with the murder investigation. They are working to gather more information and determine the motive behind the shooting, including whether it is drug-related.
