By Aaron Humes: Police continue to investigate the murder of 34-year-old Elvis Aldana, who was shot multiple times on Saturday night at the corner of Electric Avenue and McKay Boulevard, Belize City.
Aldana was in a yard near a mechanic shop when an unidentified assailant approached him and opened fire just after 8 p.m. Aldana was shot several times in the upper body and was quickly transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The shooting occurred in an area monitored by a police surveillance camera; witnesses recall hearing several gunshots before seeing the gunman flee down Electric Avenue towards the Complex Building.
ACP Hilberto Romero, the Regional Commander for the Eastern Division, noted that “Initial information indicates he was in a group of individuals when the shooting began.” He added that Aldana was known to the police.
Police are urging anyone with information about Aldana’s murder to come forward to assist in the investigation.
