By Zoila Palma: Belize Caribbean Tours Limited has become the first recipient of an official MSME Tax Amnesty Certificate, marking a milestone for the Government of Belize’s new initiative.
The award was celebrated at the MSME Tax Amnesty Programme Roadshow which began in Belize City.
The program aims to encourage small business owners to formalize their operations and benefit from tax relief.
The programme allows micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to register with the Belize Tax Service and qualify for a one-year exemption from business tax, beginning from the date of issue of their certificate.
In addition, participants will see accrued penalties and interest waived, helping them achieve compliance and strengthen their business footing.
To ensure accessibility, government agencies have launched a nationwide roadshow, bringing the programme directly to business owners. Stops include Belize City, Corozal, Orange Walk, Punta Gorda, Independence, Hopkins, Dangriga, Benque Viejo, San Ignacio/Santa Elena, San Pedro, Caye Caulker, and Belmopan throughout October.
Applications must be submitted by October 29, 2025.
By formalizing under the Tax Amnesty Programme, MSMEs can grow, access resources, and strengthen their role in driving economic development.
