By Zoila Palma: Mount Carmel R.C. Primary School in Benque Viejo del Carmen is mourning the loss of Deacon Cal Cathers, one of its founding pioneers and a man remembered for his unwavering dedication to faith, education, and community service.

The school announced his passing with “deepest sadness,” reflecting on his pivotal role in shaping the institution’s identity and guiding values.

In its statement, the school described Deacon Cathers as “instrumental in laying the foundation for the values and traditions we continue to uphold today.”

His early leadership and commitment, the school added, were central to establishing the moral and educational principles that remain at the heart of Mount Carmel R.C. Primary’s mission.

Administrators and staff paid tribute to his “dedication, faith, and service,” noting that his legacy continues to inspire generations of students and educators. “His lasting legacy will never be forgotten,” the statement read.

The school community extended heartfelt condolences to Deacon Cathers’ family and loved ones.
