Motorcyclist killed in collision in Santa Elena Town

By Aaron Humes: Police in Santa Elena Town are investigating a fatal collision on George Price Avenue, Santa Elena Town, Cayo District, on Saturday evening between a taxi driver and a motorcyclist.

According to 27-year-old Jorge Elder, he was driving a red Toyota Corolla going south on George Price Avenue toward the low-lying bridge. He turned on his indicator as he prepared to enter a car wash business on the same street and proceeded as he saw nothing coming his way.

However, as he drove two men on a motorcycle traveling in the same direction crashed into the left side of his vehicle, causing both men to fall to the ground. He then called the Police as well as the ambulance where both men were transported to the San Ignacio Hospital.

While receiving treatment, one of the men identified as Mervin Caceres died of his injuries.

Police investigations continue.
