By Aaron Humes: 16-year-old Denver Jackson was killed shortly after 6 a.m. on Sunday as a motorcycle carrying two individuals was crossing the Santa Elena New Bridge, heading towards Loma Luz Boulevard.
The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, and a notice of intended prosecution has been issued to Fernando Funez, the driver of the motorcycle, who was carrying Jackson as a passenger.
According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith, the motorcycle lost control and collided with a lamppost, leading to a devastating impact that threw both riders onto the pavement. Emergency services arrived on the scene to find Jackson with severe injuries to the upper part of his body. He was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at approximately 6:23 a.m.
In response to questions regarding evidence collection at the scene, ASP Smith noted that urine samples had been taken for analysis. While initial investigations have begun, further details regarding the cause of the accident will be disclosed as more information becomes available.
