By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A traffic accident involving a motorcycle turned fatal on Monday after the rider reportedly collided with a mound of sand left on the roadway in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.
According to preliminary information, the motorcyclist lost control after hitting the sand, causing him to be thrown violently onto the pavement. The injuries sustained proved fatal.
Police have launched an investigation to determine how long the sand had been on the roadway and whether proper warning signs or barriers were in place. Officials are also examining whether road works or construction activities contributed to the hazardous condition.
