Motorcyclist charged for expired insurance

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police in Orange Walk have charged a 24-year-old man after discovering that his motorcycle was not covered by valid third-party risk insurance.

On Saturday, February 21, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers on mobile patrol in Trial Farm Village stopped a black Lifan motorcycle bearing license plate OWM-5527.

The rider was identified as Manuel Alvarado, a laborer of Trial Farm Village.

Checks revealed that the motorcycle’s insurance had expired on January 7, 2026. The rider reportedly stated that he did not have updated insurance coverage.

He was escorted to the Trial Farm Police Station and later formally arrested and charged for using a motor vehicle not covered by third-party risk insurance.
