Motorcyclist and bicyclist die in collision on Southern Highway

By Aaron Humes: Thursday night’s accident in the village of Golden Stream, Toledo District has claimed two lives.

According to police, 74-year-old Basilio Shol of Golden Stream, Toledo District was knocked down from his bicycle by a motorcycle driven by Martin Ical, 36, from Big Falls, Toledo.

Both men were rushed to the Punta Gorda Town Hospital with head and body injuries, however, neither survived.

Initial investigation revealed that Ical was traveling southerly on the Southern Highway and when arriving near the Spice Farm he collided into a man who was riding a bicycle on the right-hand side of the road travelling in the same direction, later identified as Shol. Ical lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown from it, sustaining head and body injuries.

The accident is under investigation.
